Cash Receipts Overview

The Cash Receipts function allows the firm to record incoming funds. The funds may be classified as:

Payments to A/R Bills , which allows the application of a Cash Receipt to a Bill’s Summary Fees, Summary Expenses, Interest, Surcharges and/or Taxes or to specific Timekeeper/Expense Code allocations. Payments to A/R Bills utilize the Bank Account assigned to the Matter's Office.
Deposits to Prepaid Cash, which allows the firm to record a credit Cash amount which later becomes available for use on a Prebill in Edit Prebills. Payments to Prepaid Cash utilize the Prepaid Asset and Liability accounts assigned to the Matter's Office.
Deposits to Client/Matter Trust Accounts (available only if Disbursements Module installed) is recorded in the Trust Account for a Client/Matter which also becomes available for use on a Prebill in Edit Prebills. Deposits to Trust Accounts require the entry of a Trust type Bank Code which defines the Trust Asset and Liability Accounts.
Receipts for Non-Client Cash (available only if the Firm Accounting Module is installed). A receipt for Non-Client Cash allows the firm to record a payment which is not Client related. Receipts for Non-Client Cash require the entry of an Operating type Bank Code at the time of the entry.
