Offices Overview

Offices may be used to differentiate between different branches of the firm, or may even be used to distinguish departments within a firm, if desired.  Each office may have a separate address, apply different tax settings and use a distinct set of general ledger account numbers.

Offices are required on Client/Matter forms.  A Cash Account is assigned to an Operating Bank Code.  This Bank Code is assigned to Offices and Offices are subsequently assigned to Client/Matters.  From this assignment, Juris obtains the Cash Account for A/R Cash Receipts.  In addition, the assignment of an Office Code to Client/Matters also provides Prepaid Asset and Liability Accounts and Interest and Surcharge income accounts.  A Tax Accounting Method may also be selected together with the identification of tax options (i.e., Calculate Tax on: Fees, Expenses, Surcharges).  Account Numbers are required based on these decisions.
