Juris Leaders: Q&A with Michele Bullington

Michele Bullington, Product Manager of LexisNexis^® Juris^®, brings 28 years of expertise and a passion for tackling challenges to deliver impactful solutions — enhancing your Juris experience. Outside of work, her baking skills are just as impressive as her professional accomplishments!

“I have had the pleasure of working with Juris for over 28 years. My career began in customer support, and over the years, I have taken on roles in business analysis and quality assurance, leading to my current position as Product Manager. Throughout this journey, I have gained extensive knowledge about software development and legal billing.”

What are you most excited about with your Juris role?

I am passionate about problem-solving and thrive on thinking creatively. As a Product Manager, I enjoy listening to our customers and leveraging my expertise to develop the best solutions.

How do you describe yourself as a leader?

I am dedicated and enthusiastic about every project I undertake. I maintain an open-door policy, even in a remote work setting ensuring anyone can reach out to me. I believe in fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment where everyone’s ideas are valued and encouraged. When I need assistance, I readily seek guidance from my peers because we are a team!

What inspired you to pursue a career within the legal technology industry?

When I chose to work for Juris, it was a small, tight-knit environment where everyone had their own environment and had lunch together every Friday. It was an office like I had never seen before.  The software was moving from DOS to Windows, and they needed customer support for Windows. It was new and exciting. I never imagined being here for 28 years when I started, but looking back at all the knowledge, friends, and experience that I gained while working with Juris, I see why I chose Juris as my career path!

What do you see as the biggest opportunity for growth in the legal technology industry, and what key trends do you think will most influence our industry over the next five years?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently a major focus. As firms integrate AI into their workflows, they will experience streamlined processes and reduced costs. I am particularly excited about the next phase of Juris and the additional features we can offer to enhance legal billing efficiency and utilize AI.

What do you like to do outside of work? Are there any activities that you’re passionate about?

I love to bake. I have won over 20 ribbons at local county and state fairs. A few of my specialties are chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cream cheese pound cake, pumpkin cream cheese muffins (I use pie pumpkins, not canned), chocolate cupcakes, blueberry muffins, and banana bread. I have started making my pasta recipe and have gotten very good at it!
